We
started today with an easy morning – catching up on paperwork and photo sorting
etc. Then at around 11.00am we left “home” to drive the short distance to
Torcross where we met up with Tricia (Keith’s cousin) and Eric. We went for a
wander along the beach for a little while, chatting and catching up, then
headed to the Start Bay Inn for lunch. It is an Inn that dates back to the
1600s and is recommended as an eating place in the area. We enjoyed a lunch of
fish and chips for Keith & I (a specialty of the Inn) and jacket potato for
Alison. After lunch, we all (Tricia & Eric, Keith, Alison & I) drove to
Kingsbridge with the intention of going for a walk along the edge of the
estuary, but when we got there we found that the tide was way out and there was
not much to see but a muddy river bed with a few boats sitting in it. Instead,
we headed for a small local coffee shop for “coffee and cake”.

It was a great
chance to just sit and chat and catch up some more and make plans to meet up
again tomorrow. On our way back to the car we came across a shop that had
‘VANS’ shoes on special for £35.00 in a colour that Alison likes, so we called
in and got them. We also went into a small supermarket to get bread and butter
that we needed. This meant we didn’t have to go all the way to Dartmouth to go
to the supermarket before coming home. Today was a shorter more relaxed day and
we were home by about 4.00pm with a chance to do a load of washing and for
Alison to catch up on writing some postcards. Dinner was just cheese on toast
and fruit because we had eaten out today.
Alison
spent time this evening getting her journal up to date while I started working
on some digital scrapbook pages of our holiday!
